This page is a working BBS terminal: the homebrew board of velvet.ath.cx (1998–2006), reconstructed from the 2006-10-26 filesystem dump, running live in your browser — not a mockup. The message bases, g-file areas, doors and multi-user chat operate against the recovered system data.
How to get on: log in with an original handle (2001–2006 callers: your passwords still work, sealed as hashes), or type NEW and apply the 2003 way — pick a handle, receive a keycode by e-mail, and the sysop provisions access. Single-key commands once you are in: SPACE reads new messages, J joins rooms, G opens the g-files, Y opens Ye Old cHaT RoOM, X launches the StarFlight door.
Prefer to read first? The museum around the terminal — the board's history, the recovered message bases and g-file catalog, and a plain-language guide to what a BBS was — is all regular web pages.
